What product should I try to hit the golf ball straighter?

I am a 11 handicap. I hit the driver 290+ but hit maybe 15% fairways. I cant hit my three or five off the tee but i can hit an iron. I am looking for a straight shot to go about 250 yds. I was thinking of a shorther shafted/hybrid type driver for narower fairways. Any suggestions would be great?

    I had the same problem. I went out an bought a steel shafted Titleist Drive,r shorter shaft. It was a little costly but helped out a bunch. $ 450.00

    Try practice it’s cheaper. The ball goes straight when the club face is square at impact no matter what club you use

    I suggest you take lessons from a qualified instructor.

    Buy a driver that is custom fit for you , yes shorter shaft will be easier to hit straighter but could loss distance , you also need the flex of the shaft to fit your swing speed , rather it’s regular , stiff , or x-still , a stiffer shaft results in straighter shots , the proper fit shaft will make all the difference in the world .

    I would slow down your driver swing for control. I am a 17 handicap and the only thing I can do is drive. Let me tell you I can Hit a ball 330 on the fly, but my control disappears. If I try to land at about 270, I find that my misses are still in play, and my best shots are in the middle of the fairway. I swing the Callaway Fti Draw Bias, and with an x shaft on it. All in all I spent upwards of 600 dollars on this club, and I feel that lessons would have done me better. But after a year of practice, I learned that 270 in the middle is still 25 yards past most players. Hit em straight, and take a little off. If you hit your irons that well, you should be able to approach the green from just a little farther away

    Definitely go to a pro. Thats the only way to figure out what YOUR problem is. One persons suggestion may not be right for YOU. Go to a pro and you will not be disappointed.

    There is no long term cure other than a good teaching professional and a LOT of QUALITY practice.

    Shorter shaft = more control
    Slower swing speed = more control
    Practice = more consistancy
    More loft = straighter shots
    Higher compression golf balls = less spin (thus, straighter shots)

    Good Luck!

    I would invest in some lessons from a pro. I use hybrids and love them. Hybrids help in getting a clean shot from the fairway. I don’t know about from the tee. Sorry but it sounds like you have a bad swing. Longer clubs give you problems. Shorter clubs give your swing less time to mess up. I hated my driver because it was so erratic. I took a few lessons and my swing problem was actually fixed within 10 minutes. I now know what I am doing wrong and when I do it. Good luck to you.

    I would make sure your driver is fitted correctly for you by a certified fitter or golf professional. If it is fitted correctly then it may be best to see a professional teacher to help.Hybrids are nice but I would still stick with a 3 wood if you find one you like.I believe it will give you more distance and accuracy for long narrow par four.Change the five wood to hybrid if you do anything.

    A good product you might want to try is your grip. Yes your grip get a thicker one because it reduce hand action and causes straight shots. If you like thinner grips that enable you to whip the club with your hands a stiffer shaft will help a bit but your swing path and mechanics play a far greater role than your shaft.

    It sounds like you are plenty long off the tee so a very heavy graphite or even steel shaft might help you with the shot you are looking for (it helped me). In my case, I got an old steel shafted Titleist 980 3 wood and I liked it so much I got a 5 wood as well. I loved them so much I put steel in my driver! Yeah, I lost probably 10 yards on the top end of my best drives (now about 270-280) but I hit at least twice as many fairways as before.

    I may go back and get a high end graphite shaft for the driver distance, but the rest of my set will be steel until I get too old to hit them anymore. I feel so much more confident from the accuracy I’ve gained, It literally changed my game. Good luck.
